Laurent Duporge, the mayor of Liévin, expressed his enthusiasm:

“This is a fantastic opportunity for the people of Liévin. It’s an honor to host such a spectacle. Welcoming an international competition at Val de Souchez is a source of pride. Liévin is a cycling hub. As soon as the FFC secured the organization of this event, we did everything possible to submit our candidacy.”

The date is set. This major global cycling event will take place in Liévin at the beginning of 2025. “Everyone needs to step up, and the city of Liévin will be ready,” assured Laurent Duporge.

Fans and champions will gather in Liévin to celebrate cyclo-cross

For three days, Liévin will host an international cyclo-cross competition. On the iconic Val de Souchez course, the world’s best cyclists will compete, with nearly 30 nations represented.

The global elite will be there, led by the Dutch delegation featuring stars like Van der Poel and Van Empel. However, the French team aims to shine as well, supported by their passionate fans—just like the loyal supporters from the Netherlands and Belgium who are expected to attend.

Why Liévin?

According to Michel Callot, president of the FFC :
“Liévin is at the heart of global cycling thanks to its geographical location. We are expecting nearly 35,000 spectators and 300 journalists. The atmosphere will be unforgettable. It will be a true celebration of cycling.”

Relive the European Cyclo-cross Championships held in Liévin

In 2008, Liévin successfully hosted the European Cyclo-cross Championships. The Val de Souchez transformed into an arena of intense competition. The best European cyclists went head-to-head under the watchful eyes of a passionate crowd.

The atmosphere was electric, with enthusiastic supporters ready to cheer on their champions. This edition remains unforgettable, solidifying Liévin’s place as a key city in the world of cyclo-cross.

Today, the excitement is back. Liévin is ready to once again pulse to the rhythm of the competition. The rhythm of cyclo-cross.
